MANATEES … part 2

NUTTY ABOUT NATURE

“Sea Cow-abunga, Dude!”, MANATEES … part 2

While looking for ways to incorporate manatees into our homes, I found some unique and beautiful products. Let’s face it, the adorable Sea Cow is not the easiest creature to casually add to our home decor…..they are big (HUGE), grey (although grey IS the new “it” color)  and have a face only a mother (or a manatee lover like me) could love. With that being said, quite a few artists have made wonderful tributes to these gentle giants in several different media.

You may not have the giant wall to accommodate this fantastic triptyke or this wall art, but we all can find a perfect spot to hang a framed print.

Likewise, I would so love to have the room (and the exceedingly large pocketbook) to purchase this bronze Wyland sculpture of mother and child……but,

I definitely have the room (I know exactly where I will put it) for a smaller bronze sculpture that certainly makes me smile !

I really love this colorful stained glass panel that I found on Pinterest. Since my sister is a stained glass artist extraordinaire, I may have to commission her to make me one. Wouldn’t it look fab hanging in my porch window ? Since you can’t see my porch window, you’ll have to believe me when I say, YES !!

Now, there is a much easier way to add a touch of Manatee to your decor, and that is by creating something…..say a curtain, a duvet and shams, or some pillows…out of this adorable Manatee-print fabric.

An even faster way (I’m all about instant gratification) to pop a little homage to our manatee friends, is to buy some already made pillows……

Of course, since I have loved manatees for a long time, I made a printed Memo Pad with a vintage manatee printed on it. The pads are perfectly sized to fit in my wooden Memo Holder which, in Lagoon-colored paint, coordinates perfectly with my other desk accessories.

But wait, there is more !
Next time I will show you lots of small personal and home accessories that are sure to capture your heart. I’ll also tell you how you can do your part to support our lovely manatees and their ecosystem.

Till next time…..BB
