NUTTY ABOUT NATURE
“Oh, the things he Tortoise !”, SEA TURTLES….part 2
Now that we have learned a little bit about the Sea Turtle, let’s take a look at ways we can incorporate these wise-looking harbingers of the Sea into our home decor with art, furnishings and decorative pieces.
A great oversized triptych or even a smaller framed art print gets a Sea Turtle swimming across your wall in no time.
No reason your lamps have to be boring. Try incorporating a Sea Turtle theme by placing a lamp or two in a prominent place in your home.
I am a big fan of throw pillows (ask my hubby). It’s so easy to change the look of your room by adding a few new pillows. Easy, inexpensive and voila, a new look! There are so many Sea Turtle throw pillows to choose from ….. modern to traditional….. that it would be a snap (no, not from a snapping turtle) to find one to fit your decor.
Not long ago, after coming to the conclusion that I was not going to find an abandoned Sea Turtle shell on my beach, I was able to find great resin reproduction shells to hang on my wall. They are still waiting to be hung until I figure out the best way to attach them, but I love just looking at them. Maybe I should have bought ones with stands like these.
Hopefully, these days, the shells you buy are resin reproductions like mine (and those pictured ) or found artifacts from a long-deceased turtle. Although the trade of these shells is illegal, there is still much work to be done around the world in order to protect these gentle giants from poachers.
Several years ago,so smitten was I with Sea Turtles, I designed a decoupage Sea Turtle Tissue box and Wastebasket. They were a big hit, so I know there are a lot of you out there that share my love of just about anything Sea Turtle.
Next time, we’ll take a look at lots of sea turtle accessories both for your home and your wardrobe!
Till next time …BB
