FLAMINGOS..part 2

NUTTY ABOUT NATURE

“In The Pink“,  FLAMINGOS…..part 2

Now that we are all enamoured of flamingos, you must (yes, must) find a way to bring them into your lives as I did.

This flamingo tissue box cover really MADE this tablescape. I sold these in a home interior boutique in Palm Beach, but had to make one for myself when I realized how cute it looked in my own living room. If you would like one for yourself, just let me know.

I am not a super pinky-pink girl, but even I love, love, love an adorable pink flamingo printed fabric. So much so, that I bought a blouse with these lagoon-living feathered fancies all over it…..and I’ve worn it a million (ok, a hundred) times !

My favorite flamingo-themed product is in my linen closet. It is a set of hand-embroidered linen napkin rings from that most wonderful French company, Lin de Chateau.  They are just perfect to use for tea time or a fancy lemonade luncheon.

How many “coastal” homes, maybe I should just say homes, have a flamingo Audubon print hanging on their wall ? Yes, I’m guilty…..and I never get tired of looking at it.  In fact, I used an Audubon flamingo image to cut out and decoupage on painted wooden tissue boxes (like the one shown above) and waste baskets.

To further cement my love for these birds, I have managed to create wonderful memo pads with kissing flamingos on them. They are great for little love notes or messages to self.  They can be personalized with a monogram or name and, along with my tiny note cards, make terrific gifts for your Miami-at-heart friends.

I have even used the kissing flamingos image to make an anniversary card for my sweet friends. I’m thinking it would be a great Valentine’s Day card too.

And, for the icing on the cake, I ordered a flamingo brass stamp to make wax seals on my envelope flaps. I’m still practicing with this technique. Sadly, mine don’t look as perfect as the one pictured, but I’m committed to getting it right.

Plus, since we don’t want the front of the envelope to feel left out, a perky flamingo postage stamp clings to the corner. Yes, yes…..here comes the matchy-matchy in me surfacing again. Sorry, not sorry :0
