PALM TREES..part 2

NUTTY ABOUT NATURE

“Fond of Fronds”,   PALM TREES … part 2

Although just about any style decor can benefit from an actual Palm Tree or even a Palm Tree themed accessory, palms are totally at home in and perfectly suited for a coastal, beachy house.

If you are thinking of adding just a touch of palm tree ambience to your home, throw pillows make super accents that you can add to any room. They provide instant design gratification, are easily changeable and are not a major expense (usually).  Like anything, you can spend an afternoon searching the internet for the most fabulous hand-painted or hand-embroidered palm tree pillows that will break the bank……but you don’t need to spend a week’s salary to get an amazing look!

I have been looking for a great palm tree chandelier for the longest time. There is a great lighting shop in West Palm Beach that sells wonderful vintage pieces (Heath & Company), but every time I made a pilgrimage there, the salesperson told me they had “just sold” a palm tree light. Well, after many years of unsuccessful hunting, I finally found one that I like and it was not in my favorite haunt but online!

A simple little palm tree demi lune table by your door would be great for holding a basket for your keys or the mail. So adorable!

When it comes to palm trees in the bedroom, look for small prints that create an all over pattern. They will be easier to mix with other prints and textures.

An orange area rug with a palm tree silhouette is very au courant. Don’t worry about sticking with green and brown palm trees.

Some of the most exciting palm representations use great blues, aquas, pinks and even black. Go crazy…..that’s why they call it going coconuts!!! (I just made that up LOL).

I did want to share a photo of a unique powder room with walls covered in fronds. It’s so “me” and yet I don’t know that I would have the nerve to plant these on my walls. Do you think you could be daring enough to bring a strong tropical punch to your home?

Of course, we at Palm Cottage (and when I say we, I really mean moi, myself, I)  simply LOVE Palm Trees !  They are in abundance on our land, in our artwork and are proudly displayed on pillows, home linens and lampsticks in our own house. I confess, I may even be accused of going overboard with the palm tree theme.

I see one place I could have added yet another palm tree themed furnishing, and that is my front stoop.

A simple adirondack chair looks good, but how great would it have been with a chair that’s cut out to look like palm plumage? Am I going nuts again? Maybe we will just leave well enough alone and keep these in mind for the fire pit we are building out back.
